Favorite Trend: Mad for Metallics

Be prepared to rock this spring, for a glam punk rock aesthetic is here and it’s not just for rebels.

What we love about this tough girl re-imagined is that while edgy, there is also an elegance and playfulness to her. The metallics are softer, more of a sheen than a shine, the studs embellish girly silhouettes (think pumps, not motorcyle boots), and the moto jackets are bright, candy colors not just black.

The transcendence and acceptance of this rock n’ roll style from street to runway is also reflected in two exciting art exhibits. The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute will host “Punk: Chaos to Couture” in May, focusing on the connection between icons in punk music, like the Ramones, and fashion, such as Vivienne Westwood. And, London’s Victoria and Albert Museum has a retrospective titled, “David Bowie, Is” looking at the rock icons impact on music and fashion.
