Elli on Facebook

Lia, Ellinée & Elli

Hello, I am Lia Griffith, daily DIYer, crafty blogger, gluten-free cook, mom of an 18-year-old daughter and the Creative Director of Elli design studio.

My background: Coming from an artist family I chose a graphic design major in college. It seemed like the practical creative career choice as the artist part of my family was often “starving”. Well, not literally, but you know what I mean. Graphic design has served me well, as I have had a flourishing and colorful design career. Along with branding and print design, I have had the opportunity to design many restaurant and retail spaces, owned both a children’s boutique and a European style flower shop and had a children’s clothing line that was sold at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and even the Disney stores. Yes, those were the delightful parts of the path that wove in around the hills and boulders of my solo parenting life, and that is my history. Now, I have my dream job. I work in an artsy loft studio with a group of super talented people in the heart of Portland, Oregon. And every day we design really pretty printed stationery that we sell on elli.com.

Ellinée blog: This blog was a bit of a happy accident. While we were building our Elli site we decided to put more effort into our blog to create a little community of like minded paper lovers. If you have not noticed already, I have a thing for paper. I have made over 35 paper gowns that I have shown on runways, have been featured in many magazines and blogs and even in a television ad for China. You can see a few of my creations here. I now take all that 3-d paper crafting love and make my paper flowers for this blog. Even beyond paper, my motto is truly “handcraft your life”. I am one of those who is constantly recovering or painting furniture, sewing pillows and making gifts for friends and family. I do get a kick of of making something for near to nothing, but it is the delight of making something by hand that adds to the richness of everyday life. I feel so lucky that I have Ellinée, where I share not only my own but also my circle of very talented designers creative nuggets, tutorial and lots and lots of free printables. Life is good!

The Elli shop: Just to be really transparent. . . right now it is the Elli shop that makes our generous blogging possible. So next time you need some yummy personal note cards, snappy party invites, gorgeous Holiday photo cards, or unique wedding invitations. . . to name a few, go check out our shop. We know you will love the fresh designs, the luscious eggshell paper and the amazing prices.  It is a win-win!

The photos on Ellinée: Photography is my new love. All of the photos on this blog are styled and photographed by me (unless otherwise noted) and as of January 2012 on a Canon 5DMarkII with a 50mm lens. I use natural light. . . always.

To all readers: I love your post comments and emails! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments.

  11. I just have to thank you for sharing your amazing talent for design with us. I am always excited when I get a post from your blog in my mail box.

I love the simplicity of your style in everything you do, from your cards, to your printables, to your blog. It is all so inspiring!

I don’t have a blog right now so I live on Pinterest. Thanks for giving me so many “pin-able” moments!

  12. Seriously, my husband and I have been “ooohing and ahhhhhing” over everything on this blog. You and your fellow creatives make such eye pleasing designs that I just smile and think happy thoughts when I see them! Really, this blog is stunning. I can’t say enough nice things about your work. Also, the fact that you share some items for free personal use is just amazing too. Everything is so expensive today and everyone is trying to make a buck. I hope that by sharing some items with us, that it will “pay it forward” for your business—ten fold! It really is so nice that you provide free printables for personal use. We are getting excited to redeem some of the gift certificates (from Zulily and Mamabargains) that we purchased to use at your Elli shop—hoping to purchase some baby announcements as we are expecting our first, a baby girl, the week of Christmas! Thank you for your amazing inspiration and generous nature of sharing some of your work:) You have another fan here! Happy Holidays too!

  13. Thank you for great ideas which you gave me through your blog, you have a such creative mind!!!

Keep on create beautiful things ;-)

  14. Wow! What an absolutely stunning blog. I came across you by accident after “pinning” several of your Christmas gift-wrapping photos. I am now a new follower and am looking forward to reading and hearing more. I have included at least three of your images in today’s blog post (which is scheduled for tomorrow morning). I have included a link back to your site. So lovely to have stumbled upon your site. x

  15. I would just like to say this is the most amazing website and i have looked at a few (ok loads) but nothing no where near as good as this one. thank you for sharing all your ideas. this will definitely be my website of choice from now on. xxx

  16. Hello!
First, I wanted to thank you for making my day! I have been searching high and low for the perfect Christmas cards to send out for our daughter’s first Christmas and happen to fall upon you site from an online ad. Not only did I find cards that said just what I was looking for, they’re beautiful! I really wanted the cards to be in red and add a picture of our dog on the back and your customer service was so friendly and helpful at making my shopping experience a great one! Can’t wait to see the cards, they’ll be perfect and something I’ll always cherish.

Just wondering, have you ever considered designing Thanksving holiday cards? I am thinking of sending out Thanksgiving photo cards next year instead of Christmas, and would love to order from you again next year!

Thanks again for the great experience. It’s not every day you get to do business with people you can tell enjoy what they do and enjoy making their customers so happy. :)

    Sincerely,
    Tara

    • Hi Tara,

Thanks for your wonderful note. I shared it with the whole team because you just made OUR day!!

We are planning to do Thanksgiving photo cards for next year, so stay tuned and check back in the fall.

      Hugs! Lia

  17. I have been enjoying the tutorials on this beautiful blog since February – sorry for the delay in expressing my thoughts!

I first came across this blog while looking for inspiration for a bridal shower I was hosting. I found many printables that matched my theme and used a few of them to enhance the party decor. And of course, I used many paper flowers. I continue to use paper flowers for gifts and get so many compliments!

I appreciate the recent redesign of the blog to make it easier to navigate.

Thanks for sharing your talent and for the inspiration!

    • Thank you Dana for taking the time to write. It really means a lot to hear from our readers and when I hear the posts are helpful to people…I just want to share more! Hugs! Lia
